With a background in classical music, Grégory turned to acting, followed by dance and singing. In 2009, he won a scholarship to Jacob’s Pillow (USA), where choreographer Chet Walker trained him in American musical theatre.
The Théâtre du Châtelet hired him for the original production of MY FAIR LADY. He then spent three years dancing in the world tour of NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS. Upon returning to France, Grégory appeared in CABARET alongside Nicole Croisille. He landed the role of the Scarecrow in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE WIZARD OF OZ, returned to the Théâtre du Châtelet for the production of KISS ME, KATE, and then went to Brussels for the world premiere of the French-language version of EVITA.
In 2018, Grégory co-wrote and composed the musical LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES with Kevin Meunier.
He subsequently appeared in WONDERFUL TOWN at the Opéra de Toulon, directed by Olivier Bénézech, who later cast him as Jack in INTO THE WOODS. He returned to the Théâtre du Châtelet with COLE PORTER IN PARIS and went on to perform roles in WEST SIDE STORY, SURCOUF, and CHANTONS SOUS LA PLUIE.
In 2022, Grégory composed the music for the musical LES DEMOISELLES (DU TÉLÉPHONE), performed in Paris and on tour.
In 2023, the COMPAGNIE ALEXIS GRUSS hired him as a new writer, composer, and director for their anniversary show LES FOLIES GRUSS - 50 ANS, which ran for two seasons. The show was filmed by France Télévisions, broadcast during the holiday season, and remains available for streaming until December 2026.
In 2025, Grégory composed the music and songs for the musical FEMMES DE GUERRE, currently on tour.
Following these creative projects, Grégory is delighted to return to the stage for the production of LES DEMOISELLES DE ROCHEFORT at the Théâtre du Lido. He also reprises his role as the Scarecrow in a new production of the musical THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Lyrics and Music
Anaïs Douay, from the Compagnie Art d’Être, contacted me to come on board as a songwriter and composer for her musical theater production about the lives of three female resistance fighters from Northern France during World War I. The project centers on the historical figure Louise de Bettignies. This collaboration gave rise to the show “FEMMES DE GUERRE”, which naturally premiered in the Hauts-de-France region, where the characters are true local icons. The show is continuing its tour while awaiting a run in Paris.
Book, Lyrics, and Music
Direction and Choreography
The ALEXIS GRUSS COMPANY was looking for a new writer. I applied, and they chose my project; I immediately proposed original music. Stephan Gruss, the company’s artistic director, commissioned me to create "a musical... in the circus ring"! I wrote the story, dialogue, songs, and music around the equestrian and aerial acts we had selected, using two characters to tell the story of the Gruss family. They then asked me to direct the show. It was a thrilling experience to create a production from A to Z, from initial concept to opening night navigating every stage of the process. (This is actually my second collaboration with them, though the first show never saw the light of day due to the Covid pandemic in 2020–2021.)
Composer, Co-lyricist
Hélène Buannic approached me to set her play “Les Demoiselles du Téléphone” to music and turn it into a musical. The challenge was particularly interesting because, in addition to the songs, I was asked to write a significant amount of incidental music to accompany the scenes, much like a film score. I also helped restructure the book, deciding which scenes would be transformed into songs.
Co-writer/Composer
Kevin Meunier had long wanted to adapt Laclos’s novel into a musical. He asked me to work with him to develop the project. I composed most of the songs with him and helped structure the show based on the novel which was the most complicated part, given that I had to reconstruct a narrative chronology based on all the correspondence between the characters. I also wrote the dialogue for the libretto.
Direction and Choreography
Planning to present a French-language showcase in Paris, adaptor Julien Baptist, the only one certified by Steven Sater, the original book writer and lyricist of “Spring Awakening” turned to me to stage, choreograph, and create the entire visual concept for the performance, using only chairs for the set and with actors holding their scripts. Working within such constraints was a fascinating experience.
