Igor Bouin

BARITONE

Igor Bouin began singing at the age of nine with the Charles Brown Choir in Boulogne-sur-Mer, under the direction of Danièle Facon.

His training took him from the Lille Conservatory to the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris and finally to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he earned a Master’s degree in voice with highest honors (unanimous decision). He divides his artistic life between his passion for chamber music and opera.

He is a founding member of the Trio Musica Humana, with whom he performs throughout France and abroad. Igor also performs with the Ensemble Clément Janequin (conducted by Dominique Visse), Le Concert Spirituel (conducted by Hervé Niquet), and Ensemble Aedes (conducted by Mathieu Romano); upcoming engagements include solo appearances with Le Poème Harmonique (conducted by Vincent Dumestre) and Les Arts Florissants (conducted by William Christie).

Recent solo performances include the role of Leporello in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” (Justiniana company); the roles of Tweedledum and the Red King in “Le Miroir d'Alice” by composer Thomas Nguyen (premiered at the Reims Opera); and the role of Papageno in W.A. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” (Opéra de Poche). He also performed the title role in “Brundibár” at the Philharmonie de Paris in H. Krása’s “Brundibár” under the direction of Lionel Sow with the Orchestre de Paris; he will tour with the Ensemble Contraste as bass soloist in the Requiems of W.A. Mozart and Gabriel Fauré; and he recently performed the role of Magnifico in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola”, directed by Jean-François Vinciguerra with the Lyon Chamber Orchestra.

Last summer, he took part in the “Péniche Offenbach” tour, a production by the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse; last winter, he appeared as a soloist at several Zénith venues with the Sinfonia Pop Orchestra, as well as the orchestras of Strasbourg, Montpellier, and Dijon, as part of a national tour featuring Walt Disney music.

He regularly performs as a soloist with Les Arts Florissants (William Christie and Paul Agnew) and Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre).

He will also tour this year alongside baritone Romain Dayez in the premiere of “Les Deux Pêcheurs” a show based on Offenbach’s work and produced by La Clef des Chants.

With his ensemble, Trio Musica Humana, he performs in the show “Le Fils de Roméo et Juliette et autres drames minuscules...” (The Son of Romeo and Juliet and Other Tiny Dramas...), written and directed by Vincent Bouchot, as well as in “Bingo, un loto musical” (Bingo: A Musical Lottery), directed by Corinne Benizio alias Shirley, of the famous duo Shirley and Dino.

Also a graduate of the Paris Conservatory in choral conducting, Igor is passionate about preparing and conducting choirs, whether for adults or children. He has prepared various ensembles for prestigious festivals such as the Saintes Festival, the Saint-Riquier Festival (with the ensemble Doulce Mémoire), and the Sablé-sur-Sarthe Festival (Charpentier’s “Te Deum”, conducted by Hervé Niquet) and is highly active in cultural outreach initiatives led by his ensemble Trio Musica Humana, the ensemble Aedes, and the company Maurice et les Autres.

He is the composer and musical director of “DYS la comédie musicale” (DYS: The Musical), a show for soloists, piano, and children's choir centered on the theme of learning disabilities, created with the company La Femme et l'Homme Debout (premiered in 2022). He also recently undertook a new project in October and November 2021 in partnership with the Théâtre Edwige Feuillère in Vesoul, which involves leading singing sessions for nursing home residents every day for a week and preparing them for a concert.

 

Upcoming productions for 2023 and 2024 include: In September: A recital with Marianne Croux at the Opéra de Massy; baritone soloist with the Maja ensemble for Ligeti’s “Aventures” and “Nouvelles Aventures” in Valence. In November, soloist for the Disney 100th Anniversary Concert at La Défense Arena, followed by a tour of the “St. John Passion” in Korea and Japan with Les Arts Florissants. Also soloist for the "Hors les Murs" (Outreach) concert with the Reims Opera Orchestra, featuring the music of Maurice Yvain (touring from November to April). In December, baritone soloist for Campra’s “Requiem” in Versailles. Touring with “Carnaval Baroque” alongside Le Poème Harmonique: in January at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, then in February at the Opéra de Rouen. In May: “Bingo, Un Loto Symphonique” with the Nancy Opera Orchestra; and “Don Quichotte” with the Compagnie Maurice et les autres at the Opéra de Reims. Then “Les Deux Pêcheurs”, based on Jacques Offenbach, at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne.
