A graduate of the Musikhochschule Köln, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and the Royal Conservatory of Liège, Julie Vercauteren has worked with distinguished masters such as Sandrine Piau, Margreet Honig, Ira Siff, Alan Hamilton, Helmut Deutsch, Juliane Banse, and L.G. Alarcon.

BAROQUE OPERAS

Specializing in this repertoire, she regularly collaborates with Concerto Soave under the direction of Jean-Marc Aymes.

She plays the roles of Alceste (Admeto by Handel), Apollo (Contesa de’ Numi de Caldara), the title role of Dafne (Caldara) as well as Proserpina (Opera de Marseille).

In Germany, she distinguished herself as Volusio (Caio Fabbriccio de Hasse) at the Festival Handelfestspiel in Halle.

ORATORIO

Julie Vercauteren performed; the soprano II solo in the Christmas Oratorio by Saint Saens alongside the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia. She performs the solo soprano of Mozart's Coronation Mass as well as Beethoven's Ruins of Athens under the direction of Patrick Bâton.

In Germany, she performed the solo soprano of Faure's Requiem as well as soprano II of the Grande Mass in C by Mozart under the direction of H. Görtz. She performs “The voice” in Le Miroir de Jesus by Caplet, which she will perform again at the Namur Concert Hall in 2027 at the alongside Sturm und Klang.

She also appears as soprano II solo alongside L. Alarcon in the mass in G of Lotti and Jephte de Carissimi.

OPERAS

Since 2017, Julie has been a regular guest soloist at the Aachen Opera, where her performances have included “L’Incoronazione di Poppea” (Monteverdi), “The Cunning Little Vixen” (Janáček), “Dido and Aeneas” (Purcell), “The Wizard of Oz” (Schreier), “Lazarus” (Bowie), “La Belle et la Bête” (Glass, title role), “Manon” (Massenet), and “Le Nozze di Figaro” (Mozart). At the Brussels Mozartiades Festival, she sang the role of Annio in “La Clemenza di Tito”. She also made her debut at the Liège Opera in Pauline Viardot’s “Le Dernier Sorcier” and distinguished herself in Maurice Yvain’s operetta “Yes!”. She will soon join the Frivolités Parisiennes ensemble for a new production at the Reims Opera.

ART SONGS

She performs regularly in recital, notably in Germany, where her interpretation of Honegger’s songs in Cologne was acclaimed by Liedwelt Rheinland. She also performs Neapolitan and Baroque songs with Le Concert de La Loge (Galeries Canesso, Paris) and shares the stage with Sandrine Piau and Éric Le Sage (Namur Concert Hall).

CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

Julie maintains a special relationship with contemporary composers. Michel Fourgon dedicated his cycle “Le printemps le dit” (for voice and cello) to her. She also collaborates with Stéphane Orlando and Anno Schreier, and has participated in several premieres in Belgium and Germany. She performs will soon perform L. Ligeti’s “La Parole Seule” in Brussels, Vienna, and Budapest alongside the Hopper Ensemble.
