Baritone

French-Romanian baritone Vlad Crosman holds degrees in vocal performance and opera stage direction from the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. It was on the opera stages of this Transylvanian city that he performed his first roles (Fiorello, Marullo, Papageno); in 2011, he joined the professional training program at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles under the direction of Olivier Schneebeli.

In 2015, he was selected for the Academia de Música Antigua under the direction of Jordi Savall and performed in J.S. Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona with Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya. During this same period, Vlad Crosman pursued a Master’s degree in Baroque music research and performance at Paris-Sorbonne University, in partnership with the CRR de Paris.

In February 2016, the baritone performed a the Opéra de Reims and the Théâtre de l’Heure Bleue in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the role of the "Composer" in the world premiere of the opera “Amok” by François Cattin and Orianne Moretti at the Opéra de Reims.

He has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as Les Épopées under the direction of Stéphane Fuget singing roles including Pastore in Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo”, Fileno in Landi’s “La morte d’Orfeo”, Lesbo in Handel’s “Agrippina”, and Aeneas in Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas” at venues such as the Beaune Opera Festival, Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Opéra de Versailles, and the La Chaise-Dieu Festival as well as with Le Poème Harmonique under the direction of Vincent Dumestre.

He has also performed the roles of Un Songe Funeste in “Atys” (Vienna and Versailles), an Edison Assistant in “Les Éclairs” (Opéra Comique), Time and Celenus in “Atys” (Geneva), the High Priest and Cadmus in “Semele”, Garibaldo in “Rodelinda” (with Stéphane Fuget), and the title role in “Tancrède” (under the direction of Olivier Schneebeli).

Internationally, he has notably sung the roles of Marullo in “Rigoletto” at the Romanian National Opera and Papageno in “Die Zauberflöte” at the Hungarian State Opera.

Vlad Crosman has also performed as a soloist under the direction of conductors such as Jordi Savall, Leonardo García Alarcón, Sébastien Daucé, Léo Warynsky, and Jean-Christophe Frisch.
